Blas Aguilar

Born in 1961 in Nueva Armenia, Honduras. Aguilar graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in 1982 and currently teaches at the same institution. He is an accomplished painter and sculpture, winning 2nd place in Honduras' National Fine Arts Salon for painting and 1st place for sculpture. Blas has participated in more than 40 group exhibitions in Latin America and his paintings form part of the permanent collection at the Musuem of Modern Art in the Dominican Republic.

Abstract, fragmented and superimposed planes characterize Aguilar's work. Central to his art is the enigmatic progression of life, which the artist communicates through his iconic use of wheels, feet, clocks and the human figure, all of which take on a depth and sense of motion by permeating the abstract dimensions of his canvas.
